Title: Resolution Health Support Worker

 

Description: Working as a team the Resolution Health Support Worker is responsible to provide emotional, spiritual, physical and mental support to Indian Residential School Survivors, their families and communities.

 

Responsibilities:

Emotional support services to Former IRS Students and their family members, when and where required, paying particular attention to those individuals in crisis and those attending IAP proceedings, IRS dispute resolution process and IRS court hearings over a wide geographic area.

Work with a team to organize programs, services and events for Former IRS Students and their family members

Adhere to organizational policies and procedures

Maintain and report on program stats and outcomes

Must assist staff in basic cleanliness of the NYFC building

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

 

Qualifications:

Must have a diploma or certificate and specialized training in the human service field or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Experience working with Indigenous mental health and wellness issues;

Capacity and flexibility to meet the emotional health support needs of potentially large numbers of former IRS students in a variety of locations;

Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the human service field, supported by the knowledge and understanding of First Nations language, culture, traditions and social issues, Indian Residential Schools and the impact on individuals and families and knowledge and skills in healing methodologies.

Must be willing to travel and must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle and must submit a current criminal record check.

Hours: 35 hours per week with flexible schedule to accommodate client needs

 

Salary:  $40 000 to 45,000 annually depending on experience with extended health benefits

 

Term: Contract available till March 31, 2019 with possibility for extension
